It contains a dozen teal macarons brushed with edible gold glitter, as well as a treatise on water magic he smuggled out of a Spirit-faction library.

I hope this package finds you well. The macarons are a special recipe taught to me by my father, and the book is something I found while running errands. I do hope you enjoy them.

I wanted to apologize for seeming particularly brusque or ungrateful the other day. Your concern is appreciated. If I am being honest, I am still not altogether used to others offering to help me, even though it has been some years since I left my home the first time. What you saw was unfortunate; I usually take care of myself before it becomes that bad, but I neglected to do so this time.

I am feeling much better now. If you would like to try anything written in that book, my schedule is very much open.

[Well, that's unexpected. Mikleo takes his time in perusing the book before he responds, examining the descriptions, getting thoroughly confused by unfamiliar terminology. He tries the macarons, which are delightful, but he leaves most of them on a plate in the Huntress kitchen; sweets are more Sorey's thing than his own, and it would be too greedy to eat them all himself. The gesture is appreciated nonetheless, and the book is well worth the temporary awkwardness of the other day.]

Regarding the book, I'm not sure how many of these spells might translate into seraphic artes, but there's a few I'd love to try. There's no rush, but thank you for finding it for me.

I am glad you are enjoying the book. If nothing else, it is interesting reading. I have learned a few twists on old techniques from reading volumes found on other planets. It is my hope that one day I will find a way home through such a book.

I'd be fine with that. I have limited skill with baked goods; less of an affinity for heat, for obvious reasons. Maybe we can help each other.

I doubt the Atroma would let us find materials that would actually help us, but I'm not against trying. And if they're just underestimating us, that's their problem.

We could make an incredible brownie sundae. Or whatever else you'd like, of course-- that was just the first thing that popped into my mind.

I doubt it'd be so easy as to be written down in a book, but the best thing about arcane magic is that it is flexible and unpredictable. I know from the past that interdimensional travel is quite an undertaking, however, so I will need help.

Common sense is overrated! Nothing would be discovered if everyone subscribed to it.

That's an illogical argument. Without common sense, explorers would do stupid things like jumping off cliffs instead sensibly climbing down the side just to see what's at the bottom.

But what if common sense dictates that you don't go down to begin with? You'd miss out on so many amazing discoveries!

And what if common sense is what keeps you from using a rope too short to reach the bottom, so you don't have to trust your fate to dangerous drops with no immediate way to get back up again?

[Because the number of times Sorey has done that is just....]

If we never tried to reach the bottom because the rope is too short, then we'd never find those totally cool carvings that confirmed the theory of multiple Shepards existing simultaneously, would we? [THE RISK WAS WORTH IT]
