Did you find enough jobs? [Sorey picks up one of the used packets to read the flavor.] If you need help talking to anybody, I can go around with you maybe.

I imagine even you'd have trouble convincing someone to hire an invisible person.

[Though it would be entertaining, admittedly. Also, there's one opened package of pumpkin spice and an unopened strawberry.]

Don't worry about money, though. I was able to help Allen on a job [kind of] so I have enough funds for now.

[Oh man, he's making his pumpkinberry cookies. This is gonna be so good.]

All right. But let me know, okay? There's tons of places that need engineers with all the traffic the station is getting, so there's no shortage of jobs for me to do. [He knows Mikleo is more than capable of taking care of himself, but not having money might be a problem if the Captain expects them to chip in more than they already are. Which, after seeing what kind of person he is, may end up being the case. And as Mikleo said, nobody wants to hire an invisible person.]

[nerdeology]

I'll keep that in mind.

[He goes back to mixing ingredients for a moment, stirring in the dry before adding the milk. With a wave of a hand he conjures up some water in a measuring cup; the ship water is available, but it doesn't taste quite right.]

Actually, another crew member suggested something of a street show- like magic, although the "trick" would just be me holding things so they appear to levitate. We could try that.

[monolike]

Yeah...I guess we could... [the look on his face could not make his opinion more obvious] Wouldn't that almost be like swindling people, though?

[nerdeology]

You think?

[Maybe not tell him about the card game incident, then.]

I was told it's more of a performance. Humans do magic that way- not like seraphic artes, but sleight of hand, tricking the eyes for entertainment. Apparently people love it even when they know that it's fake.

[monolike]

If they already know the trick behind it, I guess it's all right. [this is absolutely an abuse of shepard powers. even though it's mikleo doing all the work. lailah would smack them both.] Would you rather earn money that way?

[nerdeology]

[if you can do it without being the shepherd then it's not an abuse at all!!]

It's just an alternate option, that's all. Something that could be entertaining with the right partner involved.

[WHAT SOUND LOGIC!!! the wisdom of the seraphim obv]

You mean with someone to ham it up? ...can I balance things on your head?

[nerdeology]

[Pffft.]

Yeah, you're right. Your head is disturbingly round. [wow what does that even mean buddy]

[nerdeology]

Heads are supposed to be round!

Maybe that's why your hair does that thing? Because your head is a lot rounder than mine?

[nerdeology]

"That thing"?

[Okay, but what does that mean.]

[monolike]

Y'know, the swooping thing. [Sorey gestures over his own hair, making waves with his hands.] Like this, like your hair is made from water. It's cool looking. It'd probably be more obvious if your hair was long.

[nerdeology]

[Mikleo half-reaches for his hair in a self-conscious gesture, stopping himself just in time when he remembers he's in the middle of baking. Cool-looking... swooping. He's not sure what to make of that.]

It would probably just get in the way more.

[monolike]

You could tie it back. [To be honest, Sorey is curious, but Mikleo's made it fairly clear that he wants hair that's easy to take care of. And after that disastrous attempt Sorey made at trying to style it, well, he's not allowed to have much of an opinion anymore.] But it's up to you, of course. I just thought it might look nice.

[nerdeology]

Hmm. I'll think it over.

[He probably won't give it too much thought, though. He's content with the hair he's picked for himself; any more than this would surely get annoying, wouldn't it? He has no idea how Lailah and Zaveid manage it. Even the armatus hair tends to flail around and would surely disrupt his aim if his artes didn't keep it behind their shared body.]

Do you like long hair, then? I never noticed.

[monolike]

I wouldn't say it's that I like it. I don't have a preference, really; I just think it'd be interesting to see what it looks like on you. [Sorey crosses his ankles and leans over to watch Mikleo work. Usually he gets chased out of the kitchen because he gets impatient and annoying. Rose encourages him, it's her fault.]

[nerdeology]

[Huh.

Mikleo's shoulders relax, and he pushes it to the back of his mind, focusing on the cooking again. It's not like Sorey's opinion is the be-all end-all of his appearance decisions, but he does like to look good. He can admit he can be a little bit vain sometimes. And Sorey's opinion is the one that matters the most to him.

He can't begrudge curiosity, anyway.]

Well, what about you? The armatus gives you quite the ponytail. Ever wanted to grow it out?

[monolike]

Hahaha! No, I don't think so. [Sorey scratches at his nose a little sheepishly.] I wouldn't look good.

[nerdeology]

Don't be ridiculous. You look fine with it.

[monolike]

It's all right short, yeah, but my hair isn't like yours, or like Lailah's or Zaveid's. It'd look silly. [One of the problems with growing up around people who you believe are so much more beautiful than you; you don't value your own looks.]

[nerdeology]

[Mikleo snorts.]

You think Zaveid's hair doesn't look silly? It ought to have birds living in all of those tangles.

[Beautiful the seraphim may be, but they're not automatically better than humans in the looks department.]

Yeah, but that works for him. He's a wind seraph!
